December 7 through 9th Campout Details

Location

Uvas Canyon Park, campsites 14, 15, 16, and 17 (reservation no. 89674).

Directions

Starting at the intersection of First St. (Hecker Pass Hwy) and Sta. Teresa Blvd., go west on Hecker Pass for 2.8 miles. Turn right on Watsonville Road. Continue on Watsonville Rd. for 3.6 miles. Turn left on Uvas Road. Continue on Uvas Rd. for 5.9 miles. Turn left on Croy Rd. Continue on Croy Rd. for 4.4 miles, through Svedal.

7:00 AM Reveille, build fire or prepare gas stove. Breakfast. Clean up.

9:30 AM Patrol Leaders (Erik, Jason, and Nick) give orientations. Rock hop the creek (during which the patrols are to stay together).

12:00 noon Lunch. (Service patrol prepares this beginning at 11:30 so everyone eats at noon.)

1:00 PM Put on uniforms. Hike to the top of Knibbs Knob (elev. 2694 ft.). This is an ascent of over 1500 vertical feet (qualifying for part of the Camping Merit Badge). We will stop and rest as needed; this is not a race. Carry at least one water bottle. Granola bars provided (for a snack at the top). We will have a photo at the top.
