Camp Hi-Sierra is the biggest week of the summer, particularly for Scouts 14 and under.

These are important preparation:

• Meet at the rendez-vous Sunday morning. Be on time! You may receive a call that morning just to make sure everything's underway. The sooner we get there, the less long the boys will have to wait in line at the Health Lodge.) Bring a bag lunch for the way up (or ca$h for a stop). It is important that we arrive at Camp as a group and leave as a group!
• When meeting in Gilroy for departure, be in Class A [uniform] or receive two extra tours of steward duty.
• The lunch stop is the [Sonora Togos], exit Mono Way right, for all those who want to meet before Camp, at 11:45 AM. (There is a Jack In The Box right there, too, for those who want a variety of junk food.)
• Bring and save some ca$h for lunch on the way home Saturday. If the Scout is irresponsible, prepare an envelope with $10 cash in it, sealed, writing
  • the Scout's name and
  • "lunch on return"
• and give it to the driver of the vehicle he's in.
• Be sure that your equipment (other than a cot) fits into ONE well-tied backpack or duffle bag. (And if you bring a cot, be sure to bring a pad because it gets cold at night.)

• Wear Class A uniform up and back, be sure to pack Class B
• Pack your bathing suit in an easily-accessible place in your backpack or wear it under your uniform on Sunday morning. Part of the Sunday check-in is a swim check.
• Well beforehand you (parents) will be given merit badge cards to prepare. Click [here] for a sample. (The red is universal; the yellow is specific to the Scout. Do not complete anything except the red and yellow parts.)
• Be sure you have a [health form] completed including Part C by a doctor or health professional. This is required for such a weeklong stay.
• If you are allowing your son to shoot .22 rifles, shotguns, or muzzleloaders, a permission form is required. Shooting at Camp is optional (but lots of fun).

All merit badge endeavors, be them at Camp or otherwise, must be approved by the SM, an ASM, or the Tour Leader (usually SM or ASM). The Cooking merit badge class will NOT be approved at Camp Hi-Sierra for any Scout under the age of 16.
